Marine organisms are a prolific resource for new drugs and cosmetics. The effective use of such materials and compounds depends on their suitable application form.
Nanoparticles show unique physical properties, which enable them to offer new possibilities for application of biologically active marine compounds. The use of nanoparticles results in increased concentrations of active compounds in the epidermis compared to conventional formulations. On this way biomass nanoparticles or nanoparticles containing active marine compounds are an ideal delivery system to transport and to protect lipophilic marine compounds for a topical application.
